Application | 2-chloro-6-methoxyisonicotinoyl chloride can be used as an intermediate in pharmaceutical synthesis. It is prepared by the reaction of 2-chloro-6-methoxypyridine-4-carboxylic acid and thionyl chloride, it can be used to prepare the compound 2-chloro-6-methoxypyridine-4-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester. |
preparation | 2-chloro -6-methoxyisonicinoyl chloride is prepared as follows: 2-chloro -6-methoxypyridine -4-carboxylic acid (3.96g) is added to thionyl chloride (40ml), and heated and refluxed for 2 hours. Vacuum evaporates excess thionyl chloride, and evaporates the residue twice with dichloromethane to obtain 2-chloro-6-methoxyisonicotinoyl chloride, which is an almost colorless oil (4.17g). |
